Goya Gives, Celebrates 85 Year Anniversary
Giving Back is a Goya Foods Tradition that Continues into its 85th Year
As 2020 came to a close Goya Foods via its #GOYAGIVES program continued to provide nutritious food to organizations and families that continue to struggle in our communities due to the pandemic. Food donations were also made beyond our borders to our neighbors in countries to the South and beyond. And applications opened for the Goya’s Culinary Arts Scholarships. Here’s a bit more about these efforts.
Culinary Arts and Food Science Scholarships to Four Students Nationwide
A total of $80,000 in Culinary Arts and Food Science Scholarships are granted annually by Goya to four students nationwide entering their freshman year of college with an undergraduate degree in culinary arts and/or food science. Applications opened on December 1, 2020 and deadline for applying is February 26, 2021. Link to apply: WWW.GOYA.COM/EN/SCHOLARSHIP
The People of Venezuela Received the Second Installment of Critical Humanitarian Aid
Our ongoing Goya Gives campaign donated 220,000 pounds of food to help the many that continue to suffer from severe food shortages. This was the second installment of a 400,000-pound food donation, a part of our #GoyaGivesGlobal campaign made possible with the assistance from the Venezuelan Embassy in the United States, humanitarian agencies, charitable organizations, and The United Nations.
Helping Families In Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala
A donation of 300,000 pounds of food was made to the people of Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. This donation was also part of the ongoing #GoyaGivesGlobal campaign. The distribution was made with the aid of Plan Trifinio, dedicated to improving the living conditions of border communities in the region of Trifinio in Central America.
The “Working for Our Country Campaign” in California ended 2020 with holiday donations:
- Bassett Unified Adult School, La Puente, California, received a donation of 1,100 pounds of food.
- San Gabriel Mission, San Gabriel, California received a donation of 2,716 pounds.
- Catholic Charities, San Gabriel Valley, California received a donation of 4,400 pounds.
- United Across Borders received a donation of 6,420 pounds, in partnership with Northgate Markets.
- Iglesia Adventista, Centro, received a donation of 2,200 pounds of chickpeas
Two million pounds of food to families in critical need across the United States & Puerto Rico!
The Working for Our Country campaign was launched in July 2020, a commitment to donate two million pounds of food to families in critical need across the United States & Puerto Rico!
