Profile | Lea Petersen – Public Affairs Manager SoCal Gas Company

Lea Petersens primary responsibility is to advance SoCalGas’s business and legislative interests before local, state and federal government officials, taking leadership roles in community & charitable organizations to promote economic development, job growth, higher education, supporting the 22 million customers in over 500 communities SoCalGas serves. Negotiating permits/fees, Franchise contracts, addressing construction issues. Working with business organizations & community groups, media educates the public on energy efficiency, natural gas & renewable energy alternatives. During natural gas or other disasters Lea responds to emergencies working with Police, Fire supporting SoCalGas crews restore service. 

Lea was recently presented the “Woman of Distinction” Award by Ca State Assemblyman Jose Medina for her work helping homeless students gain scholarships to further their education. She is past chairwoman Riverside County Workforce Investment Board. Serves as Board Director on 22 Chambers, Minority Owned Business Associations, Charities.

Lea has lived in 3 countries, traveled extensively throughout the world; attended the University of Mexico, Mexico City; Carleton University, Ottawa Canada concluding her education at California State University Long Beach in Journalism, Business Admin. She speaks, reads and writes Spanish & French. She began her professional career as a television news reporter covering politics. Established her own business representing the Boeing Co, Rockwell International Space Division, NASA (National Aeronautics & Space Administration) Long Beach Airport, Verizon Wireless: responsible for community outreach, media and government relations.
