Congratulations | 2018 Alianza U Foundaton Sueño Ceremony
With eyes on his superior soccer technique and his 4.0 GPA, it’s no surprise why Mauro Rafael, student at Wilson High School in Long Beach, Calif., received recognition by Toyota with a $5,000 scholarship during the 2018 Alianza U Foundaton Sueño ceremony this past weekend. The ceremony on Sunday culminated a soccer-filled weekend during the Alianza de Futbol activities at the San Bernardino Soccer Complex where thousands of soccer youth and families participated in a series of youth soccer tournaments.
“Toyota recognizes the importance of soccer in the lives of so many of our Hispanic customers, as it’s a distinctive part of their heritage,” commented Berna Riveira, Engagement Marketing Planner for Toyota Motor North America. “Mauro embodies the spirit of determination and has the dedication and drive to be not just a high caliber student but an amazing soccer player. We congratulate him and his family who together are on the road to making his dreams come true.”
“In our 2018 tour, Toyota became part of the Alianza de Futbol community; sponsoring the largest youth tournament in the country: Toyota Copita Alianza. Toyota Copita Alianza throughout the tour has brought smiles and unique experiences to more than 25,000 children,” shared Joaquin Escoto, Director of Alianza de Futbol and Alianza U Foundation. “Mauro Rafael is part of Alianza U Foundation and is an enthused student that through soccer has discovered a path to secure a better future. We are very thankful with Toyota for acknowledging his effort and dedication with this scholarship. This scholarship will help him with his academic development in college. It also speaks to Alianza U’s and Yours In Soccer Foundation mission to help youth with soccer talents to receive college scholarships. Having companies like Toyota that like Alianza de Futbol care about the development of the youth, motivates us to continue to add success stories to our community.”
