National Minority Supplier Development Council Launches Emerging Young Entrepreneurs (EYE) Program For Minority Millennials with Innovative Business Ideas
The National Minority Supplier Development Council (www.NMSDC.org) will launch Emerging Young Entrepreneurs (EYE), a new program of intensive transformational learning and business development for the millennial generation of minority entrepreneurs. Sponsored by MetLife and developed and facilitated in partnership with McPherson|Berry, EYE is designed to provide blueprints, whether at conception or during emerging phases of business ownership, for realistic next steps to developing a sustainable business and to maximizing business growth opportunities, with special interest in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
A uniquely designed year-long program, EYE kicks off with five days of hands-on training and practical application, during which participants are provided the skills, tools and strategies to start or grow innovative businesses. Entrepreneurs tackle important business issues as they move through assessments, think tanks, feasibility, and execution stages of new venture creation. The program’s expertise includes industry professionals, executives, and faculty members.
The EYE program was created to support a commitment by the NMSDC to advance business opportunities for minority business enterprises and connect them to its corporate membership, which includes many of the world’s largest international corporations. Among the program’s objectives are teaching participants the five key areas of running a successful business; understanding the needs of businesses and organizations that build innovative solutions; offering high potential minority millennials professional development and access to business leaders; building a source of NMSDC-certified minority businesses and NMSDC brand awareness in the millennial community; gaining knowledge of supply chain processes and relationship-building; and providing corporations and minority business enterprises access to minority millennial entrepreneurs with great promise and ability to form practical and superior business solutions in today’s and tomorrow’s economic environment.
EYE is being launched in conjunction with the NMSDC’s annual Conference and Business Opportunity Exchange, which will be held October 23-26 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. Minority college or university students (junior year – graduate degree level) or minority individuals, aged 19-35, with a business idea or who are current owners of businesses that can solve current business, community, or life challenges, are eligible for EYE.
